Pledges for Change

"Being able to attend Caffeinated Innovators and meet like-minded individuals pursuing passions that were similar to mine was very helpful in pushing my thinking on how PfC could create impact."
Founder: Brennan Wong
A 2012 volunteer trip to Ecuador when he was just 14 years old inspired Brennan to the idea of creating an empowered and compassionate culture of youth who would champion and drive social good — not just in their own communities, but in communities around the world. A year later, Brennan founded Pledges for Change.
Now the largest student-run non-profit organization of its kind in Canada, Pledges for Change creates social impact by combining philanthropy and volunteerism amongst the youth demographic. Every two months, Pledges for Change spotlights a local or international cause. It then finds an existing registered charity that supports the same cause. Every time someone makes a pledge to action through the website, Pledges for Change donates $1 to the featured charity. To date, over $20,000 has been donated to support initiatives that deal with issues such as hunger, bullying, mental health, and homelessness.
During their tenure at the SVZ, Pledges for Change (PfC) created a pilot program to move the needle on youth volunteer experiences, raised $100,000 to support PfC’s programs, and hired a new leadership team.
