Get ready to dig in and help us create a new, vibrant pollinator-friendly space right here on campus! Join us on October 23 at 10 a.m. for the installation of our Native Plant Pollinator Garden, where we’ll be transforming a lawn space on Nelson Mandela Walk into a beautiful habitat that supports bees, butterflies and other essential pollinators.
This exciting, hands-on event is the first phase of a collaborative effort by the Sustainability Office, the Urban Farm, Custodial and Groundskeeping Services, Plant Futures at TMU (external link) and a host of other supporters from across campus.
By getting your hands a little dirty on October 23, you’ll be playing an integral role in converting an existing monoculture lawn into a vibrant, ecologically-rich habitat for pollinators. Plus, you'll also be contributing to TMU’s sustainability goals, helping us work towards achieving a Platinum STARS sustainability rating by 2035.
Whether you're ready to roll up your sleeves, plant something and watch it grow over time, or just want to join us and enjoy the process of transforming the space, everyone is welcome to join–no prior gardening experience required!
What to bring
We’ll have gardening gloves and tools at the event, but supplies are limited! Don’t miss out on the fun—if you have a trowel or other gardening tools, bringing your own is encouraged.
Let’s come together to build a greener, more sustainable future at TMU!
