What do Crime Scene Investigations and Microplastic Research Have in Common?

In an interview with Ocean Diagnostics, Dr. Roxana Sühring explains how “microplastic fingerprints” found in the plastic additives can be used determine where microplastics come from.

Microplastiques: Menace dans le Saint-Laurent

Emerging Contaminants is featured in a French documentary about microplastics and flame retardants and their potential impacts on the St Lawrence River.

Microplastics: Where are the coming from & how do we find out?

If you are interested in more background on plastic additives and microplastics, check out Dr. Roxana Suehring's interview for the podcast "Spectral Stories From the North".

Presentation for Soapbox Science 2021

Plastic is everywhere. We use it as part of our clothes, wrap our food into it, and even store our water in it. The discussion around microplastics has alerted us to environmental issues due to plastic, but microplastics are really just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Roxana Suehring, Principal Investigator the Emerging Contaminants Lab, discusses the chemicals added to plastic products can leach out into the environment.
