K-Means Cluster Analysis on Potential Risk Factors Associated to Four Cancer Mortality Types at a Global Scale ©2018

Cancer is a non-communicable disease (NCD), which can be caused by several factors such as: environmental (air pollutions, urban and rural population growth), health/ lifestyle (smoking, alcohol consumption, life satisfaction) business (employed in agriculture, services and GDP, nurses) demographics (age, gender and education). These factors can contribute to the characteristics of four prominent cancer mortalities (lung, colorectal, liver and stomach), around the world. A Spearman correlation analysis is conducted to test the relations between cancer mortality rates, risk factors, and other experimental data. A k-means cluster analysis was also conducted to observe spatial patterns of various risk factors associated to cancer mortality across 63 countries. This is important as it will help uncover spatial characteristic patterns around the world, while discovering, enforcing, or refining policies in certain countries.
