Graduate Final Exams - Winter 2025

March 17, 2025

As we head into the last few weeks of the semester, here are some reminders to help set you up for success for final exams.

Access Your Exam Schedule in MyServiceHub

You can access your graduate exam schedule on MyServiceHub (opens in new window) .

  • From the Student home page in MyServiceHub, select Manage Classes and View My Exam Schedule.
  • Chang School: Final exams are usually held during the last scheduled class or on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Chang School exams will not show in the MyServiceHub exam schedule. Check your course outline for exam details. Students with online courses can also review the Chang School website for specific online course exam information (opens in new window) .
  • Accommodated Test Centre: If you are registered with Academic Accommodation Support (AAS) and write your tests/midterms with the Test Centre, use the AAS Online Portal (opens in new window)  to book your final exam at the Test Centre by the Friday, March 28, 2025 deadline. The MyServiceHub exam calendar will only display the class writing location to students writing exams in the Test Centre. Please refer to your Test Centre final exam booking reminder email or the AAS Online Portal (select the My Schedule option) to review the details about your upcoming final exams. Please visit the Academic Accommodations Test Centre website for more information.
  • All day or flexible time frame: The exam schedule only lists exams that start at a specific time. If you have an exam that runs longer than three hours, or is completed in a longer, more flexible time frame (e.g. a take-home exam), it won’t show on the exam schedule. Please check your course outline, D2L course shell, or with your faculty/contract lecturer for details about the exam format.
  • Please check with your department for more information.

Conflicts or Overloads

If you have an exam conflict or overload, the deadline to notify your department is Friday, March 28, 2025. An exam conflict means you have two or more exams scheduled at the same time, and an overload means you have three final exams scheduled on the same day or over three consecutive exam sessions (e.g. afternoon, evening and next morning). Assignments with longer time frames do not usually count towards conflicts or overloads.

Academic Integrity

On-Campus Exams

  • All tests/exams, including those online, are assumed to be closed book unless explicitly stated otherwise in the course outline and examination instructions.
  • All undergraduate, graduate and law students are required to have a physical OneCard for identification during exams and other assessments. Digital OneCards cannot be used as a form of ID for exam identity verification purposes. If you are wearing a mask, you will be asked to briefly remove it to verify your identity.
  • Visit the Exams website for more exam procedures, such as what you should bring.
  • Familiarize yourself with what actions may be considered to be academic misconduct under Policy 60: Academic Integrity
  • Review the  (google doc) Academic Integrity Checklist for Final Exams (external link) .
  • Smart glasses are wireless communication devices, and are not authorized for use during tests or exams. Like smart phones and smart watches, smart glasses must not be on your desk or your person, and must be put away in your bag or under your seat.
  • If you have questions, concerns, or find yourself in possession of an unauthorized device, notify your faculty/contract lecturer or invigilator as soon as you can.
  • Buying, selling, or sharing answers or questions may be contract cheating, a very serious form of academic misconduct.
  • Resist the temptation to communicate with any third party during your exam – whether that’s a friend, your family member, a classmate, a group chat, or any website or app that could provide you with answers or unauthorized assistance.

Online Exams

  • Your faculty/contract lecturer will let you know how your online exam is being delivered.
  • Review information about online exams and virtual proctoring
  • You are welcome to use the Library to write online exams.
  • Treat online exams as seriously as in-person exams. Do not have any unauthorized devices or aids accessible to you, like a cellphone, tablet, or smartwatch. Ensure that websites or web-based tools that are not authorized to use (i.e., Google, Generative AI) are not available to you in separate tabs or other browsers.

Religious, Indigenous and Spiritual Observances

If a student is requesting accommodation due to a religious, Indigenous and/or spiritual observance, they must submit their request via the online Academic Consideration Request (ACR) system (opens in new window)  within the first two weeks of the class or, for a final examination, within two weeks of the posting of the examination schedule.

Visit Religious and Cultural Observances and Accommodation of Student Religious, Indigenous, and Spiritual Observance Policy 150 for more information.

For information on religious observance accommodation for faculty and staff, please review the Accommodation of Religious Observances.

Masks

The university continues to welcome the use of masks in exam rooms. If you would like to use a mask during your exam or at any other time while on campus, masks can be requested by emailing ehs@torontomu.ca, who will coordinate pickup as long as supplies are available. Please reach out a few days before your exam to make arrangements.

Access Your Final Grades and Academic Standing

With exams approaching, you may already be thinking about when you’ll be able to access your grades and academic standing. You will be able to review your unofficial winter grades and academic standing on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 1 p.m. in the My Academics tab on MyServiceHub (opens in new window) , via the Student Center. For most graduate students, grades are official on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The exception are Communication & Culture students, who will receive their grades on Thursday, May 15, 2025 by 12 p.m.

Note that students may only appeal grades and standings once official grades and standings are posted. See more information about grades and standings and grade and standing appeals.
