Dr. Heather MacNeill

Interim Assistant Dean, Faculty Development

Dr. Heather MacNeill brings to TMU a commitment to reimagining faculty development by harnessing technology and infusing programming with equity and social accountability principles. She was Director of Medical Education at Bridgepoint Hospital throughout its transition from a community hospital to an academic site; during this time, she collaborated with physician colleagues, hospital leaders and educators, community affiliate sites and the University of Toronto to change policy and culture. Over the past 5+ years, Dr. MacNeill has also grown her expertise in faculty development, particularly in educational technology. She has delivered more than 50 invited faculty development lectures and workshops since 2019, including national and international keynote and plenary roles. As a Digital Co-Lead, EDIA Stream Team Primary Care, Dr. MacNeill is also working with individuals with lived experience to create curriculum modules on accessibility, anti-ableism and disability justice.

Dr. MacNeill graduated from Queen’s University School of Medicine and completed her physiatry residency at the University of Toronto. She also completed an MSc in Community Health (Health Practitioner Teacher Education (HPTE)) at U of T. Dr. MacNeill is currently a Staff Physiatrist with Bridgepoint.
