Max Cotter

Max Cotter (they/them) is a contract lecturer and Production Training and Support staff at Toronto Metropolitan University’s RTA Media program within The Creative School. Max is a freelance podcast producer, co-owner of Coach House Sound (a small off-grid music recording studio in Toronto’s west end), and co-founder of Brainchild Podcasts (an independent podcast network). Max’s teaching is focused on audio production and sound theory, with research interests including sound studies, critical pedagogy, community studies, oral histories, and sustainability in media production practices. Their research has taken them to conferences and public speaking engagements across North America, Europe, and Africa. They hold a Master of Arts degree from York and TMU’s joint Communication and Culture program.
