Julia Shin Doi
Julia Shin Doi has been an active member of the legal profession and a passionate advocate in her community for over 20 years. An elected Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario and adjunct professor, she co-founded the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers; Korean Canadian Lawyers Association; and Women’s General Counsel Canada. She is also on the steering committee for the Asian Canadian Women’s Alliance.
Shin Doi’s significant contributions to social justice, the legal profession and the Asian community have been widely recognized. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and was named one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network (2014) and Top 25 Most Influential in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine (2017). She has also been awarded the Ontario Bar Association’s Linda Adlam Manning Award for Volunteerism (2015); R.V.A. Jones Award from the Canadian Bar Association and Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (2016); and the Award of Excellence from the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (2017).
