Industry & Other Non-Government Funding

Collaboration with industry, not-for-profits and community organizations to achieve real impact is a cornerstone of Ryerson University's approach to research and innovation. In the 2019-20 fiscal year, Ryerson’s collaborative approach and reputation led to approximately $20.7 million in research funding. Industry funding experienced a 44% increase over last year, demonstrating Ryerson’s continuing upward trajectory in its research enterprise.

Industry

Michael Kolios (Physics) received support from companies Cancer Rx and FUJIFILM VisualSonics, Inc. to investigate the combined use of nanoparticles, photoacoustics and ultrasound as an alternative to conventional chemotherapy for cancer treatment.

Dérick Rousseau (Chemistry and Biology) received support from Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited to investigate and develop best practices in cream product development, including the creation of a toolkit.
