Royal Society of Canada
Established in 1883, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) recognizes the country’s leading scholars, artists and scientists through a competitive, peer-juried process. The lifelong honour is one of the highest a Canadian scholar can achieve in the arts, humanities and sciences.

Robert Burley (Image Arts), one of Canada’s foremost photographers, was elected to the RSC in recognition of his work capturing the role of nature in an urban context. His influence in acquiring photographic archives was also instrumental to the establishment of the Ryerson Image Arts Centre.
