The Toronto Met Entrepreneur Institute (TMUEI) leverages Canada’s largest business school and entrepreneurship program to spread a culture of entrepreneurship and empower those in need. Our goal is to unleash and support a values-driven culture of innovation, prosperity and achievement by igniting and supporting a passion for entrepreneurship.

TMUEI's Mission Statement

Our mission/goal is to provide students with a deeply experiential and transformative learning experience in a vibrant urban environment. We empower students with a philosophy of entrepreneurial thinking, passion and action-orientation that they can apply to their lives, their jobs, their communities and/or their own new ventures.

We ignite students’ passions and empower them to achieve extraordinary goals. Canada’s preeminent and largest entrepreneurship program, we deliver innovative educational programs and support multi-disciplinary experiences across campus with local, national and global impact. We provide access to world-class support and funding for our students’ new ventures and are embedded within our community.

We are attuned to the highly diverse values, language and approaches that different faculties, students and alumni bring to their enterprising ventures. Our Entrepreneur Ambassadors, engaged from throughout the university, help us stimulate a culture of entrepreneurship and ensure that our programs are relevant to all disciplines.

Entrepreneurship Awards

Awarded the Prosperity Leadership Award by the Canadian Urban Institute, TMUEI has been influential in Toronto Metropolitan University being recognized as a global leader in Entrepreneurship. TMU’s many honours include the Entrepreneurial University Award by the Deshpande Foundation, being named Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker Campus, building the World’s #1 University-based Business Incubator (the DMZ, awarded by UBI Global 2018) and empowering Enactus TMU – one of the largest student-run social entrepreneurship organizations in the world with over 100+ students per year generating funding of $100-500k per year for their co-curricular projects. Enactus Ryerson (formerly Students In Free Enterprise) has won over 50+ Regional and National Entrepreneurship Championships by empowering those in need through the positive power of entrepreneurship.
