About 10% of North Americans are diagnosed with PTSD in their lifetime, and most will have comorbid conditions (e.g., depression, substance use, dissociation). Fortunately, several highly e ective psychotherapies exist for treating these conditions, which are recommended rst-line treatments in current treatment guidelines. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is one such treatment. There are 4 primary stages to CPT: 1) Psychoeducation about PTSD from a cognitive perspective; 2) cognitive- behavioural self-monitoring; 3) cognitive interventions speci c to trauma appraisals; and 4) cognitive interventions aimed at overgeneralized beliefs emanating from trauma.

This workshop will include the following components: an introduction to the theoretical underpinnings and supporting evidence for CPT, an in-depth instruction in the protocol sessions, demonstrations with video-recorded materials from actual cases, participant use of the therapy materials and role-plays, and a discussion of common problems encountered. Participants are encouraged to bring case examples for discussion.
