Sri Krishnan

Sri Krishnan is a dedicated academic leader with a background in electrical, computer and biomedical engineering. He first joined Toronto Metropolitan University in 1999.

Throughout his time at the university, Sri has played a pivotal role in advancing research, innovation and educational activities. He previously served as both associate dean, research, development, and external partnerships and interim dean, FEAS. 

Throughout his tenure, Sri has contributed to TMU in a variety of leadership roles, including graduate program director for Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), assistant chair for Research and Graduate Studies in ECE, department chair of ECE and founding program director for Biomedical Engineering. He was a Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Signal Analysis and the founding scientific co-director for the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Technology (iBEST). 

Sri’s administrative accomplishments include developing, implementing and supporting the successful accreditation of undergraduate biomedical, electrical, and computer engineering programs and the graduate degree program in electrical and computer engineering. He established interdisciplinary research clusters and laboratories and fostered strategic and sustainable partnerships with industry, hospitals and international institutions. A globally recognized scholar, he has delivered more than 60 keynote and plenary talks at international conferences and national symposia. 

Passionate about mentorship, student success, and inclusive excellence, Sri takes immense pride in the training and supervision of students. To date he has advised 18 PhD students, 36 master’s students, 17 masters’ project students and 104 postdoctoral fellows, research associates, visiting scholars and undergraduate research assistants. Many of these individuals have gone on to become leaders in industry and academia. 

Sri has also served as a scientific advisor to start-up companies and innovation firms in artificial intelligence and digital health. He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.
