This esteemed award recognizes TMU educators who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching within the university.
Prof. Seko stands out as one of only three distinguished recipients this year, a testament to her significant contributions to the TMU academic community. As an individual recipient, Prof. Seko will receive a certificate of recognition along with a monetary award of $2,000. This accolade serves not only as a recognition of her exceptional teaching record but also her innovative contributions to the academic community at TMU.
Since joining TMU in 2019, Dr. Seko has become a leader in graduate supervision. Her achievements include a prestigious Teaching Fellowship in 2022-23 and a Learning and Teaching Grant in 2020-21 from the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). These awards supported her development of a solution-focused graduate supervision training program and the establishment of communities of practice for faculty and graduate students. Prof. Seko has also been recognized for her excellence in course re/design, particularly through the implementation of a flipped classroom approach and the introduction of arts-based assignments, supported by the Creative School ECI Curriculum Grant.

We look forward to celebrating Prof. Seko's achievements at the upcoming Toronto Met Awards Gala on April 30, where she will be officially presented with the award. This honor not only highlights her exceptional contributions to teaching and learning but also serves as an inspiration to educators and students alike.
