Pamela Palmater was recognised by The Hill Times as one of the “Top 100 most influential people to watch in 2021” (The Hill Times, 25 January 2021, p. 35). The citation says:
Pam Palmater, Mi’kmaq lawyer, professor, activist: The chair in Indigenous governance at Ryerson University in Toronto, is a regular political commentator, called on to discuss Canadian law and Indigenous rights in a year that started with rail blockades by some First Nations and ended with non-Indigenous fishermen attacking First Nation fisheries in Nova Scotia. She’s a strong voice whose presence has also had an impact on the Hill, last Parliament with the passage of Bill S-3 to end sex discrimination in the Indian Act, and likely will be a leading voice again with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples bill on the docket.
