Remington Latanville

Remington Latanville is a PhD student in the Policy Studies program. She is enrolled in the Social Policy stream, with a specialization in Urban Policy. Remington has extensive experience in quantitative research and teaching. She has an interdisciplinary background of business and criminology, and throughout her studies, has focused on the power disparaties which negatively impact lower income earners. In her undergraduate studies, Remington researched the issues of child and forced labour in third-world countries by powerful multinational companies. In her masters, she examined the regulatory loopholes which enabled money laundering by white collar criminals. This research highlighted the ease with which elite criminals profit at the detriment of home ownership by the average Canadian. In her PhD, Remington aims to expand the body of knowledge on the widespread and indiscriminate victimization of pedestrians as vulnerable road users. In particular, she is interested in exploring urban design issues which impede pedestrian well-being.
