Nick Dreher

Nick Dreher (he/him) is a PhD student in the migration, settlement and diaspora stream of the Policy Studies program and a recipient of the CERC doctoral fellowship in Migration and Integration. Having grown up outside of Philadelphia, United States, traditional Lenni Lenape land, his background and academic perspective are informed by a commitment to the value of multiculturalism and a social justice lens. For the last decade, Nick has worked in non-profit and higher education settings in a variety of roles—teacher, program coordinator, and advocate for community organizations supporting migrants and refugees in South Africa, Uganda and several cities in the United States. Nick’s research interests focus on social inclusion and belonging among forced migrants and refugees in multicultural urban settings including in the global south, qualitative methods and storytelling, and the role of arts and culture programs in affirming migrant identity and building intercultural community bonds.
