Mia Hershkowitz

Mia Hershkowitz is a PhD student in the Social Policy stream in Policy Studies at Ryerson University. She has extensive experience in qualitative research and grant/research study coordination and management. She has done research and published in the areas of immigration and policing, specifically on undocumented migrants, sanctuary city policy and police jurisdiction. Her current research is focused on education policy and racism. Mia is preparing to undertake a study of education outcomes for black students in Toronto which calls into question the way student performance is measured. Upon completion of her studies she hopes to work in the public sector on policy research and development.
