Kate Womby Browne (she/her) is a digital communications and graphic design leader based in Toronto, Canada, with over two decades of experience across public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Kate’s academic interests focus on immersive media and its potential to drive behavioural changes. Specifically, she explores how immersive experiences can enhance empathy and promote pro-social and pro-environmental responses to issues like homelessness, racism, and climate change. Her doctoral research investigates various modes of immersive storytelling, examining how they can be used to foster empathy, inspire political action, facilitate autobiographical expression, and serve as autoethnographic research tools. Integrating autoethnography and immersive media, Kate’s work explores how immersive experiences can support action and change, and responds to the idea that virtual reality creation and participation can enable deeper self-observation and understanding of life events.
