Combining his professional experience of media systems and digital design, Finlay is developing methods for engaging with the temporality of media. Through a practice-based research-through-design process, Finlay is exploring the potential of new interfaces that allow audiences to adjust the playback rate of their media experiences. Leveraging machine learning to interpret media content, Finlay aims to create intelligent systems that dynamically adjust playback rate to facilitate audience accessibility and expediency as well as provide tools for creative applications.
