Andrew Lochhead
Andrew's research focuses on contemporary, artist-led interventions into mnemonic infrastructure - statues, plaques, street names, historic sites - that celebrate white supremacy and ongoing colonial violence. Specifically, he is interested in how these curatorial approaches can inform public heritage sector practices aimed at creating spaces of repair, the making of reparation, and toward answering the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action . His project is in part driven by his experiences as the author of the Let's Rename Dundas Street petition, which played an important role in the creation of a process to rename Toronto's longest East-West thoroughfare and the development of a new commemorative framework for Canada's largest city.
