Dr Afsoon Soudi completed her Ph.D. in Physics at Washington State University focused on characterization of semiconductor nanomaterials and then moved to Montreal to do postdoctoral research on semiconductor quantum dots and their applications in energy harvesting technologies and display panels. Her academic profile includes two patents and over a dozen peer-reviewed publications. She co-founded an award-winning software company IRYStec that was later acquired. As VP R&D she led research and development of B2B software products that enhanced image readability and visibility of portable displays in different lighting environments using state of the art computer vision algorithms.

Prior to joining TMU in 2022, Afsoon has been at the CBC as the Senior Manager of Machine Intelligence and Data Science. Within the CBC, she has built, scaled and led two teams of data scientists and machine learning developers to develop machine learning products for media creation, discovery and distribution and enable personalization in CBC products.
