Performance students, alumni and instructors team up to present a play for now (and only now!)

Sarah Gervais, Performance alum and writer/producer of Pandemic Play
Pandemic Play is a 90-minute melodramatic cacophony of one girl as she Twitch streams, TikTok dances, and Zoom/Skype/Facetimes her way through the most isolating period of her life.
This piece is for anyone who has ever screamed angrily into the void during the last 18-months, anyone who has ever felt too complicated to be understood, and anyone who has ever questioned what they think they know about themselves/the Universe. It is relevant now, and probably *only* now, as it encapsulates the experience of a person trying to find fulfillment (and sanity) in a time where both of those things seem to be hard to come by for lots of people. It addresses the monotony of everyday life during the Pandemic, and the ways in which our relationships shift, for the better and worse, when they are relegated to tiny boxes on the internet.
Audiences will leave our show with a sense of curiosity, and an urge to self-reflect. How can our interactions - be it with friends, strangers, family, etc - become more meaningful? Where do we go from here as individuals, and a global community?
My biggest piece of advice to those wanting to create their own work? As Shia LaBeouf so eloquently says: JUST DO IT! Don't worry about pleasing everyone with your work, you'll get lost in the impossibility. Create because you love creating, because you feel a calling to create. All of the rest comes after.

Luke Kimball, Performance of alum and director of Pandemic Play
This play has been a real privilege to work on, I've felt really lucky to be able to work with so many of my peers (and mentors!) on this project. Sarah Gervais has written a piece that is created for the Zoom platform, which I think really is what sets this play apart from other Zoom shows in a really useful way. Rehearsals have been a total joy every day, and everyone is bringing so much to these characters. We're really looking forward to hopefully ringing in the end of this pandemic with a sort of retrospective on the whole thing as seen through the character of Frankie. We hope everyone gets a chance to come check this out!
