Performance Enrichment Program

With Performance at The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University as your host, The Performance Enrichment Program is the latest in pre-university training for the performing arts. Designed for high school students aged 13-17 as of summer 2025, this comprehensive summer experience will introduce participants to their creative futures.

One week of experiential, creative, interdisciplinary learning 

Four major disciplines to choose from: Acting, Dance, Technologies, or Materials

Earn a certificate of completion from The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University

Complete a portfolio piece that puts your professional skills on display

Program Details

When: July 7th-11th (Week 1), July 14th-18th (Week 2), July 21st-25th (Week 3)

Where: Toronto Metropolitan University | Performance at The Creative School | 345 Yonge St. Toronto, ON

Cost: Early bird registration (before March 31st): $750 + HST, General Registration: $800 + HST

What We Offer

Customizable Program Offerings

The Performance Enrichment Program runs for 3 weeks from July 7th to 25th. Sign up for 1 week or all 3 and select a different (or the same!) discipline each time.

With 4 major disciplines (Acting, Dance, Technologies, and Materials) and a suite of electives for participants to choose from, the Performance Enrichment Program is individualized for each participant.

Completed Portfolio Piece

Each major stream of the Performance Enrichment Program finishes with a professional portfolio piece:

Acting: Self tape
Dance: Solo choreography video
Materials: Final costume, prop, or set design
Technologies: Final lighting, sound, or video design

We are committed to gathering the next generation of artists with a desire and drive to improve their skill set. Our instructors will match their offerings to participants' existing skills and create dynamic training environments where all skill levels can find challenges and successes.

Acting

Program Description

In the Acting stream of the Performance Enrichment Program you will work on building skills in theatrical acting, voice, movement, and performance creation.

Immerse yourself in the world of acting training and work with your instructors to create a polished self-tape by the end of the week. Whether you are a seasoned actor or just starting out the Acting stream is designed to bring out your best performance!

Dance

Program Description

In the Dance stream of the Performance Enrichment Program you will explore various forms of dance including ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz, with components of improvisation and choreographic techniques.

Your week of dance training will finish with a solo performance that will be filmed for you to take home. The instructors will tailor lessons to experience level(s) - the only thing you need to bring is your passion for dance!

Technologies

Program Description

In the Technologies stream of the Performance Enrichment Program you will experiment in the art of design by using lighting, sound, and projection technologies to bring stories to life.

Spend the week being hands on with our creative technologies equipment and complete a portfolio project that shows off your skills. The Technologies stream is perfect for tech enthusiasts at every experience level eager to explore the world of live performance!

Materials

Program Description

In the Materials stream of the Performance Enrichment Program you will experiment in the art of design by using prop, costume, and scenery material to bring your creative ideas onto the stage.

Develop your skills by working with a variety of mediums on different design projects, and finish the week with a completed piece that displays your artistry. From concept to final design, the Materials stream will expose you to the creative process behind live performance!
