Biography
MING-BO LAM (she/her) is a dance lover and educator, with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Ming-Bo is recognized for her ability to lead with unwavering empathy, integrity, and courage, and her work facilitating safe and educational spaces for novice and professional movers alike.
With a career that continues to flourish, Ming-Bo has choreographed for theatre and film productions, independent dance projects and commissions. Select credits include the Much Music Video Awards, the Toronto Raptors, The Umbrella Academy, Nike Canada, Fête Chinois, Toronto Life, fu-GEN Theatre, Soulpepper Theatre, The Kit, TO Live, and the NBA All Star Weekend.
Ming-Bo possesses a diverse and well-rounded educational background. She graduated on the Dean’s List, with an Honours BFA, in Theatre Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan (Ryerson) University, where she was also selected as valedictorian. In addition, she holds a Master’s in Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship degree from Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business.
Ming-Bo operates with the belief that empowering artists with business acumen and know-how can help shift the power imbalances in the industry and create more sustainable, long-term careers. It is this belief, blended with her impressive artistic accomplishments, that led Ming-Bo to become a five-time speaker for the Dancer Transition Resource Centre (DTRC).
Currently, Ming-Bo teaches at Sheridan College’s HBMTP and Toronto Metropolitan University’s The Creative School, is the founder of BO’S BASICS: Contemporary Dance Workshops, and continues to guest teach and adjudicate on a freelance basis.
