Dr. Dehghani-Sanij is available to supervise Occupational and Public Health (MSc) students in 2025-2026.

Dr. Alireza Dehghani-Sanij received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Thermo-Fluids) from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2017. He is currently a senior research fellow at the University of Waterloo and an instructor at Conestoga College.

His research focuses on energy and thermal engineering issues, including clean, renewable and sustainable energy and environmental protection; smart, hybrid and integrated energy systems; heat transfer and heat resistance of construction
materials; as well as fire modelling and fire safety.

With two decades of academic and industrial experience, Dr. Dehghani-Sanij has authored over 40 peer-reviewed journal papers and around 40 conference papers.

He has also contributed to several book chapters and books, such as Wind Towers: Architecture, Climate and Sustainability, a book published by Springer in 2014, and Ice-houses: Energy, Architecture and Sustainability, a book published by Elsevier in 2021.

Additionally, he has served as a guest editor for eight special issues in peer-reviewed journals and as an associate editor for the International Journal of Energy and Water Resources since 2021. Dr. Dehghani-Sanij has so far supervised two MSc theses and more than 10 BSc theses.
