
Abhinand Thai
Dr. Thai is available to supervise Occupational and Public Health (MSc) students in 2025-2026.
Dr. Abhinand Thai is an epidemiologist in the Public Health Risk Sciences Division at the Public Health Agency of Canada. He also works as an independent research and evaluation consultant at the institutional, national and international levels.
Dr. Thai completed a BSc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Wilfrid Laurier University, a BASc in Occupational Health and Safety from Toronto Metropolitan University, and an MSc and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Guelph.
His background and employment experience include working for the Canadian Public Health Association, the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools, the University of Guelph, and Toronto Metropolitan University. Previously, Dr. Thai served on the President's Task Force on Student Mental Health at the University of Guelph. He has also worked with Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Health Canada, CGIAR, and the Public Health Agency of Canada on several public health initiatives.
Dr. Thai's research over the last few years has centred around student mental health, health promotion, health behaviour change, public health policy, infectious diseases, underserved populations, environmental health, and vaccine hesitancy and uptake. His interests span broadly across several areas of epidemiology and public health.
