Cheryl Thompson

Dr. Thompson is an assistant professor at The Creative School, an author, public speaker, and researcher. She intends to bring balance and a depth of understanding about Canadian culture and history to this renaming process. She teaches and researches the intersections of media, race, and culture from a Canadian perspective by centering issues of media bias, racism, and cultural hegemony as Canadian issues not as imports from elsewhere. Cheryl hopes this knowledge and her committee experience will help to support centering these challenging issues. As an alumna and now employee of the university, she feels invested in its success and positioning as one of Canada's leading universities. For Cheryl, this role is personal, not solely professional.
