
Catherine Ellis
Catherine Ellis is an associate professor in the Department of History. She has recently served as department Chair, a member of the university’s Board of Governors, and Co-Chair of the Standing Strong (Mash Koh Wee Kah Pooh Win) Task Force. Catherine is committed to thoughtful, intentional and accountable community engagement in which everyone’s voice is equally valued. Throughout this process, she looks forward to deepening her understanding of the cultural and linguistic significance of naming and commemoration. For Catherine, it is important to advance the implementation of all of the Standing Strong Task Force’s recommendations, including the shared desire to choose a new name for the university that reflects the values and aspirations of the community.
