TMU launches 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan

The new Strategic Research Plan was guided by a steering committee with diverse representation from each faculty and the student body.
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) has launched its new five-year strategic research plan.
Shaped through engagement and collaboration, the 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan sets TMU’s institutional scholarly, research and creative (SRC) activity priorities. The plan articulates strategic strengths and reflects the diverse SRC activity taking place across the university.
Describing the plan’s ambitious goals, Steven N. Liss, vice-president, research and innovation, emphasized that the plan is “a call to think boldly and build on our SRC strengths and shared commitment to excellence to redefine possibilities, make positive change and drive impact both locally and globally.”
The 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan was developed through an extensive consultation process under the leadership of the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation and guided by a steering committee with diverse representation from each faculty and the student body. It draws on the plans of TMU’s faculties, partners and stakeholders and has been developed in alignment with the university’s new Academic Plan and 2020-2030 Strategic Vision.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed their ideas and expertise to this process, especially our steering committee for their guidance and support”, said Vice-President Liss. “The success of this plan is rooted in our shared commitment to collaboration and excellence.”
As TMU embarks on the implementation of the plan, the collective effort of the university community will drive its success. “The new strategic research plan builds on our foundation of excellence”, said Vice-President Liss. “We are expanding TMU’s influence and enhancing our reputation by working with our partners to deliver meaningful solutions to the world’s most complex challenges.”
The 2025–2030 Strategic Research Plan was approved at the December 3, 2024 senate meeting and is now available for download.
