TMU is one of the 10 best Canadian universities at preparing students for the workplace. The ranking comes from the Times Higher Education’s Global Employability University Ranking 2025 (external link)

The ranking shows which universities are creating the most employable graduates according to recruiters.

GEURS assesses the employability performance of higher education institutions and is the only ranking and survey of the world’s top 250 universities for producing employable graduates based on employers’ assessment, knowledge and expectations. For this 14th edition, 129,126 votes were canvassed from 13,240 operational and international managers in 33 countries. This is the largest sample to date.

“This accomplishment reflects TMU’s strong commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and practical learning experiences that resonate with employers globally. Together, we’re empowering future leaders to thrive in an evolving job market,” said Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano.

TMU provides innovative, career-related education through its holistic approach to student development. This approach stems from TMU's commitment to incorporating experiential and work-integrated learning across all programs of study, ensuring students graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

“Toronto Metropolitan University was founded on the mission to provide innovative career-focused learning to meet the needs of our ever-changing world. Over 75 years later, we continue to prioritize preparing students for their future careers, and we are proud to be recognized for this crucial and long-standing commitment,” says Mohamed Lachemi, TMU president and vice-chancellor.

“By integrating academic, career, and personal growth, we've created a comprehensive support system that enhances student retention and success post-graduation,” says Wincy Li, associate director, career education at the Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre.

Emily Garant-Jones, director of student success & career navigation, notes that employability development is an ongoing process involving students, staff, faculty and industry partners. “We guide students from self-reflection through to advanced job-search strategies, with a strong emphasis on professional skill building and career exploration.”

TMU’s employer engagement strategy aims to adapt quickly to evolving early talent needs while offering multiple pathways for industry and community partners to connect with the diverse student population—a diversity we proudly position as our institutional strength.
