The TMU Bold are back on the field, ice and court this season as varsity sports get underway – and there are plenty of chances for you to check out the action.

Below, learn more about TMU’s teams and how to cheer them on this season:

Women’s Soccer

The debut game of the 2024-25 season belongs to women’s soccer. The Bold kick off their campaign on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. when they host Trent University under the lights at Downsview Park. After the opener, the Bold have five other home games throughout the fall, culminating in the finale on Oct. 13.

Men’s Soccer

Aiming for a 17th straight playoff appearance, the Bold men’s soccer team opens their season on Aug. 31 when they host the Queen’s Gaels at 3:15 p.m. at Downsview Park. The Bold will be looking for some redemption this season after being eliminated on penalty kicks in the OUA quarter-final last year.

Homecoming hockey game: Sept. 19

Before the hockey season is officially underway, the men’s team faces off in one of the biggest events on campus with the annual homecoming game (external link)  on Sept. 19. The Bold will host the Brock Badgers starting at 6 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Men’s Hockey

Fresh off an OUA silver medal and fourth place finish at the national championship last season, the men’s hockey team looks to build on their success and put together another strong year. Following the homecoming event in September, the team’s first regular season home game is set for Oct. 9 when the Bold host the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6:15 p.m.

Women’s Hockey

After a strong finish to last season, the women’s hockey team looks to carry that momentum into the new year. The Bold welcome the York Lions to the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Oct. 9. with puck drop scheduled for 11:15 a.m. in front of local school kids. Then, don’t forget to mark your calendar for Jan. 17 in the new year as women’s hockey will play host to the Winter Homecoming event.

Women’s Volleyball

Coming off a semifinal appearance last year, the women’s volleyball team returns to the court with lofty goals. The season starts on the road on Oct. 25 before their debut on home court on Nov. 7 against Ottawa. First serve is set for 6 p.m. at the MAC as part of the Block Party theme night (external link) .

Men’s Volleyball

The Bold men’s volleyball team is back on the court this year with strong veteran leadership– and will look to improve on their .500 record from 2023-24. Action starts Oct. 25 on the road before opening the home portion of the schedule on Nov. 7 against Trent. First serve from the Block Party theme game (external link)  will fly at the conclusion of the women’s match.

Women’s Basketball

Following her experience coaching the Canadian women’s team at the 2024 Paris Olympics this past summer, head coach Carly Clarke returns to TMU to lead the women’s team. The Bold reached the OUA semifinal last season – and the team is now focused on topping last year’s outcome. Action begins on the road on Oct. 25 before hoops return to the MAC on Nov. 2 against Algoma. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.

Men’s Basketball

With a splash of new talent entering the mix this season for the men’s basketball team, the Bold will look to establish themselves as consistent competitors. Last year the squad was bounced from the playoffs in the opening round and the team will aim to go further into the postseason this year. The blue and gold open the season on the road on Oct. 25 before hosting Algoma for the home opener on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
