Community input is instrumental in shaping the foundation of TMU's academic future.

It is my pleasure to share that the planning process for our 2025-2030 academic plan is well underway. Earlier this semester, we wrapped up phase one of consultations and have moved into phase two.

I would like to express my gratitude to the dedicated faculty and staff who have actively participated in consultations over the past several months. Discussions have been rich, diverse and reflective of our vibrant TMU community. In phase one, we assessed the values and priorities of the current academic plan, and evaluated what worked and what we can do better. In phase two, we will delve deeper into refining our overarching academic goals and charting a course to achieve them.

The 2025-2030 academic plan will serve as a comprehensive roadmap for university planning, outlining both short-term goals and long-term objectives. This strategic document is pivotal to ensuring TMU’s academic planning aligns with the needs of our learners and the broader community.

The engagement and enthusiasm during consultations thus far have been considerable. It is heartening to see the community actively participating in shaping the future of our institution. Your dedication reinforces our commitment to a collaborative, transparent and inclusive decision-making process.

Have your voice heard

With over 115 consultations planned with administrative units, academic departments, committees, student groups and unions across the university, it is extremely important to me that we hear from every corner of our university. To ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute, we have also scheduled two important town hall meetings this semester. One specifically for students on Tuesday, March 5 and another for all community members on Monday, March 18.

If you have not been invited or had a chance to attend a consultation so far, I encourage you to actively participate in these upcoming opportunities. Your voice is critical in ensuring that our next academic plan is representative of the diverse perspectives within our community.

Student town hall

Students are invited to grab a bite and win prizes at the student town hall. Snacks will be available and students in attendance will have the chance to enter a raffle and win some prizes.

Community-wide town hall

More information about the academic plan and upcoming consultations is available on the academic plan website. I encourage you to check back regularly for updates. As always I invite you to reach out to me with questions, concerns and ideas at provost@torontomu.ca.

Thank you in advance for your ongoing commitment to the betterment of TMU. Together, we will continue to build a stronger and more inclusive educational environment that meets the evolving needs of our dynamic community.
