Three town halls offer opportunity for the community to provide input on the university's Strategic Research Plan.

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) community input is being sought on the mid-point review of the institution’s  (PDF file) 2020 - 2025 Strategic Research Plan (SRP).

The purpose of the mid-term review of the Strategic Research Plan is to assess its progress towards achieving the goals outlined in the Plan and the extent to which the identified key research themes and areas of focus are aligned with institutional priorities. The mid-term review will make recommendations that will inform both the implementation of the current SRP and the development of the 2025 - 2030 Strategic Research Plan.

A Strategic Research Plan is required for Tri-Agency funding (external link)  and is used internally to highlight areas identified as strengths of the university and TMU’s approach to scholarly, research and creative activity.

The mid-point SRP review steering committee invites the TMU community to participate in upcoming town halls that are taking place throughout September.

“We look forward to the TMU community’s input through these town halls or through online channels,” said Naomi Adelson, chair of the steering committee and associate vice-president, research and innovation. “Community feedback is integral to the process.”

“The Strategic Research Plan articulates and promotes our institutional strengths.  It is not a static document. Rather, it is a guide that provides a framework to allow us to identify how to scale in a disciplined manner with a focus on our areas of excellence. The mid-point review offers the opportunity to assess our progress and make recommendations to inform the development of our 2025 - 2030 SRP ” said Steven N. Liss, TMU’s vice-president, research and innovation.
