Kick off Pride, stop by the Farmers Market or see a new exhibit this June
Summer is the perfect time to explore and get involved on campus! Over the month of June, TMU will be bustling with events for students, faculty and staff to enjoy, including cultural events, exhibitions and international conferences giving the community a chance to hear from experts in their fields.
This year, we are celebrating Pride Month with a community networking opportunity and a book launch. The TMU Farmers Market will also be in full swing this month, happening often on Tuesdays throughout the summer, with fresh produce and locally made goods. TMU Farmers Market
May 16 - October 31
The Farmers Market has been a staple at TMU for almost a decade and it’s back this summer. Nearly every Tuesday from May 16 through till the end of October, the TMU community can stop by Gould Street for fresh produce and more from local farmers, producers, artisans and vendors.
There is lots going on at the Urban Farm this summer, including tours, learning opportunities and more. For more information, visit the Urban Farm’s website.
Toronto Met Day Camps

Doc Now Festival (external link)
June 1 - August 5
The 2023 Doc Now Festival is an interdisciplinary documentary festival featuring innovative work from TMU’s Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media program. This multi-arts, multi-media festival showcases the film, photography, installation and new media work of a diverse group of international storytellers. Pride
June 1 and June 13
Though Positive Space has decided to move most Pride programming to October so more of the community can participate, there are still two events to mark in your calendars to honour Pride Month: one is the 2023 Pride kick-off lunchtime social on June 1. This year, Positive Space partnered with the Urban Farm to host the kick-off on the roof of the Daphne Cockwell Complex. Another event of note is the Pride Author Talk: Deadly and Slick: Sexual Modernity and the Making of Race on June 13, where Sita Balani will discuss her book on race and sexuality.

Media Architecture Biennale (external link)

This week-long event features keynotes, workshops, symposia, panels, awards and exhibitions and is led by Professional Communication Professor Dave Colangelo. MAB23 will bring together students, academics and professionals from architecture, art, design, urban planning, media and communication, urban informatics, and public policy to share new ideas and shape this evolving field.
National Indigenous Peoples Day
June 21
Aambe bizhaak! All are welcome to join for an opportunity to learn, celebrate and reflect on the diverse heritage and culture of Indigenous Peoples. There will be an Indigenous vendors showcase in the SLC Amphitheatre from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as programming on the SLC 8th floor from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a traditional feast to follow. International Conference on Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations
June 22 - 23
Professors Joseph Recupero and Laurel Walzak from the Sport Media program at the RTA School of Media are co-chairing a conference centred on diversity and inclusion at the Rogers Communication Centre this summer, with the theme 'Whose Accountability Revolution? Priorities, Incentive Structures, Organization Cultures.' The conference will focus on topics including identity and belonging, education and learning in worlds of differences, organizational diversity and community diversity and governance.

TMU’s Faculty of Arts is hosting the sixth installment of the conference organized by the International Public Policy Association (IPPA), which convenes researchers from around the world to discuss public policy on an international scale.
