New rankings from Research Infosource have placed Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) second in corporate research income growth for the 2020–2021 fiscal year. In the five-year university spotlight, focusing on research income performance from federal granting councils between 2017 and 2021, TMU was among the top-ranking comprehensive institutions in two categories. TMU ranked fifth for research income from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, with 7.5 per cent of the university’s research income coming from that agency.
“These outstanding results reflect TMU’s commitment to research excellence,” said Steven N. Liss, TMU’s vice-president, research and innovation. “The significant growth in corporate and not-for-profit research income demonstrates how well our faculty, students and staff work with our partners and collaborators to accelerate research. Together, they are addressing the critical real-world problems of today and developing innovative solutions.”
