As the year comes to an end, read below for the stories that helped define TMU in 2022.

It was a year of change. A year of perseverance. A year of coming together, forging a new identity and building a new future.

This year alone:

We officially became Toronto Metropolitan University.
We got approval to move forward on a new medical school.
We created a new minor in LGBTQ2S+ studies.
We announced a new team name and mascot.

And after two years of boldly adapting to unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, we returned to the classroom with strength, fortitude and pride.

And that’s not all. Before looking ahead to 2023, below, we invite you to look back at many more of the year’s pivotal moments, memories and milestones that have brought us to today.

A new name

The new name for the university, Toronto Metropolitan University, was approved unanimously by the Board of Governors on April 26, 2022.
