New features for incoming students on RU4U’s Your First Year

A destination for first-year students to envision the fall term

RU4U’s site is a resource for both incoming and current students to support their success through their academic journeys.

Since the launch of RU4U in 2020, the website has been a resource for Ryerson students — incoming and current — to support their success and highlight the services, programs and supports available to them throughout their academic journey. A recent update to the website is the creation of a space for prospective first-year Ryerson students, called Your First Year, to help students visualize what their experience will look like, and discover how the university has adapted its offerings to accommodate the unique circumstances of fall 2021, including virtual learning.

With the fall 2021 semester approaching, prospective students have less than a month to decide on their school of choice, and COVID-19 uncertainties have made the difficult decision even harder. As we learn more about what the fall term will look like, Your First Year will be updated with the most up-to-date information and offerings for incoming students.

Updates & key features

Your First Year demonstrates Ryerson’s commitment to creating exceptional student experiences through three unique website sections:

  • Learn: a comprehensive representation of all unique virtual learning opportunities from Ryerson’s faculties, and library, as well as resources from Ryerson International, Student Life and Learning Support, and Academic Accommodation Support;
  • Community: a resource for all planned pre-orientation and orientation activities as well as information on Housing & Residence Life, the Tri-Mentoring Program and Ryerson’s equity service centres; and,
  • Services & Supports: a curation of wellbeing offerings such as counselling and recreation, and information on the Career & Co-op Centre.

Led by the Office of the Vice Provost, Students, Your First Year is intended to help shape the first year experience and inform students on how they can access the resources they need to succeed. The website will serve prospective and incoming students for years to come, and will continue to adapt to reflect the breadth of opportunities and resources available at the university.

Are you a Ryerson employee or faculty member who communicates with prospective students? If so, please share the website.
