The Standing Strong (Mash Koh Wee Kah Pooh Win) Task Force has created multiple ways for the community to provide input, including an online survey, virtual presentations and a toolkit.
On March 16, the Standing Strong (Mash Koh Wee Kah Pooh Win) Task Force launched a two-month long online community engagement as part of its mandate to conduct broad, open and transparent conversations. The Task Force co-chairs say they are honoured to embark on a journey to learn from community members about what the university can do to reconcile the history of Egerton Ryerson. Community input on how the university should approach commemoration is critical to the Task Force moving forward with its work in reconciling the history of Egerton Ryerson.

The Task Force wants participation from as many members of the Ryerson community as possible and has created different ways to gather and encourage feedback – including an online survey, virtual community presentations and a downloadable community engagement toolkit.

Toolkit gives you the resources to lead a community conversation
There have been ongoing conversations regarding the statue of Egerton Ryerson and around commemoration in general. These conversations are a valuable way to share with one another and they provide a great opportunity to collectively come up with new ideas. Independent Task Force with important mandate
The Standing Strong (Mash Koh Wee Kah Pooh Win) Task Force is an independent body created to help guide engagement with the community on reconciling the history of Egerton Ryerson.
Originally, the Task Force was called the Egerton Ryerson Presidential Task Force. Co-chair Joanne Dallaire, a Cree pipe carrier gifted with the ability to seek out Spirit Names, sought a Spirit Name for the Task Force. This name is in recognition of the ancestors and spirit helpers that are invited to join this process and provide guidance in this important work.
The Task Force members look forward to listening as they build principles and recommended actions that acknowledge our society’s colonial past as the university continues to take steps toward reconciliation.
