They say the best memories are made at summer camp. However, with in-person programming cancelled this year at Ryerson, young campers will be making memories and meeting friends virtually. After 30 years of running in-person programming, Ryerson Summer Camps is launching the first ever Ryerson Virtual Camps with a special focus on making this season’s offerings more accessible for the Ryerson community.

From 3D design to virtual soccer, the Department of Athletics and Recreation, with partners in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science have made it their mission to ensure this season’s programming delivers the core tenets of the camp experience - fun, learning and community -  right to campers’ homes. In addition to the daily programming offered to registrants, a selection of content will be made available for free for Ryerson community members through a weekly newsletter. Each newsletter will include five videos that cater to a variety of ages and interests.

“It’s important for us to live up to our mission of building community, sharing meaningful learning experiences for campers and their families, as well as leadership opportunities for our Ryerson students via virtual camps,” says Matt Edmonds, camps and aquatics coordinator with Athletics and Recreation. “This is our way of making sure the Ryerson community is supported and can still enjoy camp from a safe distance.”

Virtual camps programming is available for children ages 7-17 and covers a range of topics, such as science and engineering (external link) ; virtual soccer (external link) ; digital creativity (external link) ; and 3D design (external link) .

Ryerson community members can sign up for the Ryerson Virtual Camps weekly newsletter online (external link) . To register for programming, visit www.ryersonsummerdaycamps.com (external link)  or email camps@torontomu.ca for more information.
