Mentoring matters
Ryerson’s Tri-Mentoring Program (TMP) matches first-year students with upper-year students in the same program or with similar interests to help first-year students find success and a sense of belonging on campus. The program also offers group mentoring and career mentoring. Here's a look at how the 2018/19 academic year saw growth in every aspect of the program.

Programs by the numbers
Peer-to-peer mentoring
Ryerson first years get matched with an upper-year student in the same program/faculty to help navigate the Ryerson community: 998 mentors and 891 mentees.
Group mentoring
Monthly group sessions allow students to discuss topics such as identity, community and role models with their peers: 229 students.
Career mentoring
Mentoring sessions with Ryerson alumni and industry professionals allow students to tap into current practices and trends in the workforce.
91 career mentoring matches → 72 per cent increase over last year
134 in-person meetings between mentors and mentees → 51 per cent increase over last year
Online community portal
In 2018-2019, mentors and mentees could create an online profile and connect with each other in a secured online platform.
9,238 engagement points between users;
121 “flash mentors” where any mentee could reach out to a mentor to ask a burning question; and
202 Posts, 458 Comments, 565 Likes.
