We caught up with some grads who were involved in leadership, sports and activism at Ryerson

Leslie Bradshaw

Leslie Bradshaw graduated from TRSM in 2012 and credits her involvement with Ryerson Athletics with inspiring her career path.

Convocation is the end of one journey and the beginning of another. As the graduation ceremonies begin, we spoke to some alumni to find out how their experience at Ryerson influenced their career.

Working for Ryerson Athletics helped Bradshaw realize that a career in sports marketing would allow her to combine her passion for athletics and academics.

Bradshaw is manager of sport partnerships at Canadian Tire Corporation.

Defining moment
Supporting the Board of Governors through the process of acquiring Maple Leaf Gardens (now the Mattamy Athletic Centre).

Today
Cowan is a recording artist, on-air presenter and community builder.

Defining moment
Being chosen to lead a conference in a fourth-year capstone course.

Today
The coaching he received and the foundational learning he gained at Ryerson gave him the skills to climb the corporate ladder rapidly. Toomey is now vice-president, financial planning at TD Canada Trust.

Tom Thorne

Founding editor of the student newspaper The Eyeopener

Defining moment
Creating a voice for students and helping countless journalists launch their careers.

Today
True to his roots, Thorne is a freelance journalist/ commentator, having enjoyed an extensive career at TVO, and as a marketing professor at Loyalist College.
