This morning, University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) announced that Steven Murphy, dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management, has been selected as their next president and vice-chancellor, effective March 1, 2018.

During Steven’s term as dean, the reputation of the Ted Rogers School of Management has significantly increased. Most notably, the Ted Rogers MBA program was ranked among the top 10 programs in Canada by Canadian Business from 2013 to 2017 and, for the first time, the program was ranked among the top 100 best MBA schools worldwide by The Economist.

Steven also led the development of TRSM's co-op model, in consultation with industry experts, to ensure it meets the changing needs of our students and today’s business world.

He also created the Dean’s Council to provide expert and industry-specific guidance on topics such as curriculum, market positioning, international expansion, and technology and trend evaluation. The 23 Council members, chosen from local, national and international organizations based on their genuine passion for shaping post-secondary education and career opportunities for a diverse student body, also serve as ambassadors for TRSM within their industries or sectors.

On behalf of the entire Ryerson University community I want to congratulate Steven on his new position, and thank him for his important and lasting contributions to Ryerson.

The search for the next dean of TRSM will soon begin and we will also be naming an interim dean. I will keep the community informed as these processes move forward.
