Campus launches 2016 United Way campaign
Ryerson and the United Way share a common goal: to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our communities. As we launch our annual United Way fundraising drive, I am calling on the Ryerson community to support the work of the United Way as, in many ways, an extension of our own city building mission.
Every dollar counts and no donation is too small. This year’s goal is $235,000, and faculty and staff can donate online or through payroll deduction, which allows you to give a little bit at a time. You can direct your gift to one of the more than 200 United Way supported charities. You can even designate gifts to the Ryerson campaign for non-United Way agencies.
This year, everyone who donates will be entered into a prize draw for unique gifts including a lunch with me, a day off with pay, a skating party at the Mattamy Athletic Centre and innovative products created across our zone network.
This year’s campaign runs to the end of December. One of the first initiatives underway is the CN Tower Climb on Oct. 22. The community is invited to help the existing student teams (Pitman 6 Residence team (external link) and varsity fencing team (external link) ) to reach their fundraising goals.
We are also looking for volunteers to help our campaign succeed. We are inviting students, staff and faculty who would like to get involved to become a Ryerson United Way Ambassador for their school, program or department. To learn more about the campaign and volunteering, please visit https://www.torontomu.ca/unitedway/.
Staff and faculty will soon receive an email with details on how to donate online. Those without email will receive paper pledge forms. If you have questions about how to donate or wish to speak with someone about the campaign, contact Terry Beverly Marks at extension 6543 or bamarks@torontomu.ca.
Let’s again show the world what the Ryerson community can do. Watch for more exciting United Way events and activities on campus and get involved. Thank you in advance for your generosity – without you, there truly would be no way.
