Join us for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Memorial. Together we will mourn the women killed at the L’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in an act of violence on December 6, 1989, as well as the Ontario femicide victims of 2023,  as reported by OAITH. Join us to turn our mourning into action on December 6th, 12 - 1:30pm EST for a panel discussion, a rose ceremony, music by the Queer SongBook Orchestra, followed by food and conversation afterwards. Please email osvse@torontomu.ca if there are ways we can make this event more accessible for your needs.

This event is part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The December 6 Memorial is annually organized by a diverse group of TMU community members including Faculty of Engineering and Architecture; Consent Comes First; Human Rights Services; Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services,; Centre for Safer Sex and Sexual Violence Support; Centre for Women and Trans People; Toronto Metropolitan Student Union; Athletics and Recreation; Housing & Residence Life; Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre; Community Safety and Security.  A special thanks with gratitude to TMU students; Alvina Hang for artwork and Nithusha Suganthan for the graphic design support .
