TMU is committed to leading an open and consultative process in planning for a new School of Medicine in Brampton, set to open its doors in 2025.
As part of this commitment, the School of Medicine leadership team will host a series of town hall consultations to give members of the university community the opportunity to discuss its development in a public forum.
All town halls will be held virtually and registration is required to attend. These town halls are for TMU community members only (staff, faculty and students); as such, a @torontomu.ca email address is required to register.
What can you expect at the School of Medicine Town Halls?
Recognizing that schedules vary, we are offering the same presentation at three different dates and times:
Monday, November 20, 1-2 p.m.
Friday, November 24, 9-10 a.m.
Tuesday, November 28, 7-8 p.m.
All town halls will be moderated by Lisa Barnoff, Interim Associate Dean, Equity and Social Accountability at the School of Medicine. Topics addressed at the town halls will include:
-A general progress update on the School of Medicine from Teresa Chan, Dean, School of Medicine and Vice-President, Medical Affairs
-An equity and social accountability update from Jamaica Cass, Indigenous Health Lead and Trudy McFarlane, Black -Health Lead
-An update on the development of the postgraduate medical education (residency) program from Brent Thoma, Interim Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education
-An open question period for attendees. Questions can be submitted in advance or during the webinar.
We look forward to sharing our significant progress in all of the above areas with the TMU community. Thank you in advance for your insight and support of this process – your engagement is key to TMU’s efforts to transform medical education.
