
Akil Bishop
Akil provides leadership of CIBC’s retail banking business in the GTA and Western Ontario, supporting more than 2 million clients on their journey to achieve their ambitions. Akil takes pride in leading a team of financial professionals that continue to execute on CIBC’s client-focused strategy to build a modern, relationship oriented bank and deliver sustainable market leading performance, while championing CIBC’s Purpose and helping to bring CIBC’s brand to life. Akil has held senior leadership roles at CIBC for the past 11 years, effectively leading teams that drive business growth and enablement in roles spanning sales leadership, sales strategy and execution, business assurance, controls optimization, and data analytics.
Akil is actively involved in building and sustaining inclusive leadership at CIBC as a member of CIBC’s Inclusion Leadership Council over the past 4 years. Akil is also passionate about volunteering and community service, serving as a member of the Advisory Board for Toronto Metropolitan University’s MBA Program, in addition to serving as Vice-Chair on the board of ACSA Community Services based in Scarborough.
Prior to joining CIBC, Akil spent 11 years in Management Consulting with a global firm focused on finance, technology, operational, and strategic transformation. Akil holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Toronto Metropolitan University.
