
Melanie Fraser
Melanie Fraser was appointed the Corporate Chief Information Officer in January 2018. In this role, Melanie provides strategic direction and executive leadership for the planning, implementation and management of the I&IT strategy for the Ontario Public Service through an integrated and comprehensive service planning and delivery structure. Prior to her current role, Melanie held a number of senior positions; most recently, she was the Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister of Corporate Services for Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS). In this capacity, she supported the delivery of the government’s transformation agenda by working collaboratively across the enterprise to assist partners in achieving their goals.
Prior to joining TBS, Melanie was the Director of Operational Services for the Death Investigation System supporting the Office of the Chief Coroner & Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. She also held senior positions in the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services including the role of Chief Financial Officer and Director of Executive Support to the Deputy Minister. Before she started her career in the Ontario government, Melanie worked for a Mutual Fund and Securities dealer in Toronto’s financial district.
Melanie is a passionate public servant and has spent her career championing a culture of service and collaboration and has implemented several innovative partnerships. She is an advocate for Flexible Work and Zero Bureaucracy Movement, both of which are designed to make the OPS a true workplace of the future.
Melanie is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the Richard Ivey School of Business and holds a Masters and Honors Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University. Melanie and her husband Steve enjoy cooking and golfing and have two active young children.
