Biography

Ahsan started his journey in the remote village of Multan, Pakistan. After completing his school education he moved to Lahore, Pakistan for higher education. He did his bachelors in Mass Communication and later complete his first MA in Multimedia Arts. Both of the degrees were done by the most prestigious institutes in Pakistan. 

His professional career started in 2015 when he joined an advertising agency as a video editor and junior director for a few projects. After gaining some experience he joined another ad agency where he worked with them as a film director and producer from 2017 to 2019 and worked on projects for the government of Punjab, Pakistan. His most prominent work here was a series of television commercials to promote the government's campaign against Hepatitis. These commercials were broadcasted on more than 40 national and local TV channels.

He adequately adapted himself to the work situation during the COVID-19 situation. He focused on his freelance work with some local clients. Furthermore, he also got the opportunity to diversify his experience when he taught some film-making courses for the fall 2021 semester at the University of South Asia, Lahore, Pakistan. Equipped with all these experiences, he found the opportunity to work at the Emergency Operations Center, Punjab as a communication officer, which was his last job under the banner of UNICEF before joining MDM at TMU. At EOC he made documentaries, testimonials, and newsletters, both on digital and conventional media, to increase Polio awareness in Pakistan.

Why Digital Media?

I am a multimedia artist who has worked in the media industry in Pakistan for couple of years in different capacities, ranging from a novice video editor to a documentary maker. I believe that there are certain areas, like search engine marketing, data analytics, and social media strategy & planning, for which I can benefit from acquiring new skills and tools to better integrate into an increasingly digital form of the advertising industry. This will also help me to contribute to the ongoing and upcoming digital growth of the advertising industry in Pakistan. I am fortunate to have been admitted to the Master of Digital Media at Toronto Metropolitan University to study the adequate courses to be a successful digital media entrepreneur.
