Biography

Richa is a passionate filmmaker, digital content specialist and visual anthropologist with Master's in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London and over 8 years of experience in print and digital media.

Before joining MDM she was working for 1021 Creative as a Content Strategist with YouTube's Culture and Trend team where she collaborated with cross-functional teams and partnerships to deliver editorial feedback on video content. She also worked with stakeholders within YouTube to bridge the gap between Data and Culture through Storytelling.

She has received Earth Journalism Network's Asia-Pacific 2019 story grant & Women in Climate Change Multimedia Grant by Climate Tracker for 'Yami - A Dead Goddess', a multimedia project about an ecologically dead river, Yamuna and the impact it on the women of nearby fishermen community. 

Why Digital Media?

Richa aspires to be at the forefront of creating more empathetic user experiences and designs that may help find solutions to real-world issues such as Climate Change and Gender Inequality. She truly believes that design is a practice that creates culture. Culture is what shapes values that in turn determine the future.

Major Research Paper

My research will examine the potential gender bias in automated job assessment of immigrant women in Canada. The research will delve into the discrepancies, conformity in the artificial Intelligent (AI) systems and how it impacts the already marginalized immigrant women in their job search. It’ll explore the relationship, interactions and intersections between gender and artificial intelligence to assess the impact of the technological trend of automation and how it might affect the procedure of acquiring the right job roles based purely on their skills.
